About The Grasshoppers
The Cen-Tex Grasshoppers are a group of senior golfers that was chartered in 1979. Our purpose is to enjoy the game of golf while creating new friends. Fun and fellowship are major aspects of our group.
We organize and conduct six two-day tournaments each year in the general geographic areas between the piney woods of East Texas and the hill country of Central Texas. The evening before each tournament we meet for a “Tailgate Party” where we are informed which members will participate on what teams and the format of the golf tournament.
The USGA rules are generally followed with a few modifications. Members come to us with a range of handicaps, including some very low to very high. All are welcome whatever your handicap, remembering that fun and fellowship are the keys to our success.
Generally, our membership consists of senior citizens fifty-five and older with a few of our members being slightly younger and some in their nineties. However, we are all young at heart and ready to play golf while enjoying one another’s company.

TOURNAMENT ENTRY DEADLINE: MARCH 25, 2026
ENTRY FEE: Two (2) days of golf, cart, range balls, prizes, and taxes. Buffet lunch at Jardin Corona Mexican Restaurant on Wednesday. $96.00 per person, $192.00 per couple.
STARTING TIME: ***SHOTGUN START AT 8:30 AM***
Be at the course with clubs on carts by 8:00 AM. Announcements and game instructions will begin at 8:15 AM SHARP. (Make sure your name is on your golf bag.)
PRACTICE ROUND: Call (830) 693-3300. Identify yourself as a Cen-Tex Grasshopper for any rate discount.
GAME FORMAT: Tee Boxes: Men – Gold, Women – Red. Day 1 is STEP AWAY SCRAMBLE: All players drive their ball. After the best Tee shot is chosen, everyone advances to that ball and the player whose ball is chosen steps away and the other 3 hit their ball from that location. The second ball is chosen and whoever hit the ball that is chosen then steps away and the other 3 hit. This continues thru the hole and includes the putt. The next hole it all starts over again. Must use at least two drives for each player for the 18 holes.
Day 2 is YELLOW BALL: Each player will play their ball the entire 18 holes. Enter Gross Score for each player. Must use Player with yellow box on the scorecard and the 1 best net from the other 3 players. Circle Scores used for NET.
HOTEL: There are several hotels in the Marble Falls area. (Holiday Inn Express, LaQuinta, Hidden Falls Inn, Motel 6, Hill Country Inn, Quality Inn Near Lake Marble Falls).
TAILGATE PARTY: 5:00 – 6:00 PM, April 7th (Tuesday) at COURSE. Prepackaged light snacks only will be provided. Check-in at the Welcome Table to obtain your name tag and tournament pairings sheet.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Please sign into Golf League and let us know whether or not you will be attending prior to March 25, 2026. In the comments section, please let us know if you are sending a check or will Zelle the money.
